Tutorial
After downloading and installing Clash for Windows, you can configure Clash for Windows through Clash for Windows User Guide.
Add configuration file
There are generally two ways to add a configuration file:
- Remote subscription address
- Local configuration file
Generally, the remote subscription address (URL import) and local configuration file (local file drag and drop import) are provided by the node service provider.
Remote subscription address
The remote subscription address is imported through a URL link. Generally, service providers will directly provide the Clash node address. Just copy the node subscription address provided by the service provider, as shown in the figure below:
Then click the menu Configuration
on the left side of the interface, fill in the URL
connection address just copied in the top input box and click Download
. After the download is complete, click the corresponding configuration file to add the configuration file, as shown in the figure below.
Local configuration file
The local configuration file is imported by dragging and dropping the local file. It is generally used when it cannot be imported through the remote subscription address. You can try to download the configuration file in the browser and import it directly by dragging and dropping or clicking Import
to import it, as shown in the figure below.
Select a proxy node
After adding it as a subscription address, you need to select a proxy node to use. Click the Proxy
tab on the left side of the software main interface. The default proxy rule in the upper right corner of the software is Rule
. There are four main proxy modes:
Rule: All requests are diverted according to the configuration file rules
Global: All requests are sent directly to the proxy server
Direct connection: All requests are sent directly to the destination, that is, no proxy is used
Script: All requests are diverted according to the script file rules
The global mode may cause domestic traffic to be accessed through the proxy. In addition to the network slowing down, it will also consume package traffic. The advantage of the rule mode is to distinguish between domestic and foreign traffic. Only foreign websites within the rules will go through the proxy, which will not affect the domestic access speed and save package traffic. So if there is no special need, generally select Rule
.
Then, click the left mouse button to select a node in the expanded node group, as shown in the figure below:
Enable proxy
To enable the proxy, click the Home
tab in the menu on the left side of the interface, find System proxy
and turn it on. The button is green when it is turned on, as shown in the figure below.
After starting the proxy, the icon in the system tray will change to a golden cat. The following is a description of the system tray icon color.
Set to start automatically at boot
To set to start automatically at boot, click the Home
tab in the menu on the left side of the interface, find Startup automatically at boot
and turn it on. The button is green when it is turned on, as shown in the figure below.
Update configuration files
Click Configuration
in the menu on the left side of the interface, and click Update All
to update all configuration files, as shown in the figure below.
